What a great weekend in Las Vegas! No, not on the gaming tables (I did contribute $6.00 to the casinos, but that was my limit.) Rather, on the tennis courts at the Las Vegas Senior Open, Category 2 National Tennis Tournament. Lots of good players and a great tennis facility at the Darling Tennis Center, twenty minutes west of the strip. Bob Randolph, the tournament director, goes to great lengths to make sure every one is accommodated, and his desk staff did an impeccable job. Everyone really appreciated the way the tournament was run, which is quite a feat considering the number of crotchety old tennis players there! And would I be remiss if I didn’t mention the Players Party on Tuesday night? Wow, I’ve been to a few player’s parties, but none like this! Bob had his good friend put on a show that was thoroughly entertaining, along the lines of Carol Burnett. Real Las Vegas high-energy showmanship. Probably the highlight of the tournament (besides the time spent on court)
