This question came in the other day:
Hello,
We purchased the QM-1 and have just tried it out today. It works great. We would like to record the singles and doubles matches for our high school son and daughter. The camera we have is the Muvi KX-2. I was wondering if you could help with a couple of questions.
1. I have seen some people recommend an external battery for recording multiple matches. Have you done this? To have the camera run off of the external battery pack, do I need a special cable?
2. It seems like you have some experience with the Muvi cameras. What video recording settings do you recommend?
Thanks for making this great product. I think we will get a lot of good use out of it!
Dear Mickey:
I haven’t used the Muvi KX-2 itself but the action cameras are all pretty similar. For myself, I don’t see any advantage going over 1080p. It just takes up more room on the sd card. I typically use 1080p at 30 frames per second or 720 at 60 fps. I also use the wide or extra wide angle. You use a standard USB cable but it will depend on which camera you have. I believe that the KX-2 uses the micro-usb cable.
As far as batteries, I’ve used a variety of them, minimum of 5000 mAh, max 10,000 mAh. RavPower and Anker are pretty high quality, but I’ve had good luck with just about all of them. One thing I really like to have though is a little carrying pouch so I can hang the battery over the camera bracket knob. You absolutely never want to let the battery hang from the camera as it can break the USB outlet on the camera and that makes the camera unusable. The carrying pouch is most convenient, but you can also wrap the USB cord around the pole, or use tape to tape it to the pole.
Hope that helps!
Regards,
Mike
