TIPS ON HANDLING THE WIND
Being an outdoor sport, tennis players are sometimes forced to play (and film) in somewhat harsh conditions. The most common problem is the wind, but there’s no reason it should keep you from getting great results. Small to moderate breezes are not typically a problem, but if the wind is blowing strong, it can be a challenge if the fence you are attached to isn’t just right.
There are a number of ways to stabilize the QM-1 when it is extra windy, and here’s some of the solutions that I have used in my filming. I know there are more ways to do this than what I show here, so if you’ve come up with a unique way to defeat the wind, please let me know and I’ll pass it on.
If there is no windscreen, which is usually the case when filming from outside the court, my first move is to stretch a bunge cord horizontally across the pole, as in the picture below. Or, if you want, stretch it vertically (especially if there is a windscreen). It really doesn’t take much to hold it still.

Other options: Use any piece of string to tie the pole to the fence, or to hang a water bottle or other heavy object.
Hang any heavy object from the end of the pole, from a water bottle to a rolled up towel.
You can hang a weight from the end of the pole. It can be a water bottle, rolled up towel or even your tennis bag! Have another solution? Please don’t hesitate to share it with us!!
