How to film a tennis match – How do you know what you are filming? Part 2

Part 1 earlier in this blog,  “How do you know what you are videotaping”, we went over the basic philosophy of the QM-1, which is that for almost all tennis courts the angle looking down into the court is the same, about 60 degrees.   The QM-1 has marks on the bracket that when lined up with the marks on the plastic foundation, give you the correct angle.    close-up-of-setting-the-bracket-angle-with-arrows

There is no “guess and check” ….all you really have to do is remember to turn your camera on!

But here’s two other ways:  If you are using a basic camcorder, just turn the lcd lens down towards you!  Like in these pictures.   (Works from either side of fence!!)                                                                                                           103_0118camera mount with viewfinder open

If you have a GoPro, then there’s aFREE app for controlling the camera, including a view of what the camera is seeing.

In all honesty though, and especially with the new wide angle action cams, it really isn’t necessary to see the viewfinder, and it’s almost impossible to screw up with the new action cams.
