Group Tennis Drills for College and High School Tennis Coaches

I was priveleged to attend the 2014 Intermountain USPTA Tennis Conference this year and as a surprise, the Air Force Women’s tennis team came up from Colorado Springs and put on an exhibition of some of the drills that they use.  If you are a high school or college tennis coach and are interested in learning some new drills, you might enjoy this. They also use some different philosophies on where to hit you volleys. Here’s the YouTube Link:

Disclaimer!  The women were leaning against the curtain, and at times it was part of the drill to strike the curtain, accounting for much of the camera movement. Not much one can do about that!

I’m the Heads coach of the Boys Tennis at Morton High School in Berwyn, Chicago Il. I love the video and only wish I was able to attend that exhibition of some of the drills that they use. Is there any way you could send me any extra learning tools that you may have received during that exhibition? My team is from a low income town and they only have the parks to play in or when the weather breaks. Its usually cold in Chicago until our first match. I’m doing a lot of online searches and would love the extra help.

Thank you very much for posting the video

Sorry Angela, I don’t really have anything else. I would suggest contacting your local USPTA division and seeing what resources they might have. You might even get some volunteers to help out. I know I would if I were there!

    Thank you,

I was using a GoPro Silver on this one. Didn’t have the MUVI K1 or K2 yet or I would have used it instead. Haven’t used the GoPro in awhile as it’s been too finicky. The MUVI K1 is a great replacement.
